Hug Types

1. Classic Hug

The Classic hug is one of the most common hugs, where you and the receiver wrap both arms around each other with chests touching and heads side by side.

2. Bear Hug

The Bear hug is a tight hug that signals acceptance, support, and friendship. In this hug, you wrap your arms all the way around the receiver and squeeze tightly.

NOTE: Be careful to not squeeze too tightly during this hug!

3. Bro Hug

A Bro hug is a variation of a classic hug, but instead of squeezing with both arms you only squeeze with one arm while the other hand pats the back firmly twice.  After the second pat, the hug may end immediately or continue a few beats longer. While the name implies this is a hug between two males, it is for all genders and gender combinations.

NOTE: Any more or less than two firm pats and it is no longer a bro hug.

4. Side Hug

A Sideways hug is a casual, less formal hug. There is less contact with this hug, as only the sides of your bodies meet.  Polite and friendly.

5. Half Hug

A Half hug is just like a classic hug, but instead of wrapping both arms around each other, you only use one arm.

6. Quick Hug

A quick hug is friendly, and as the name suggest...quick. Your upper bodies may touch, but your lower does not.

7. Air Hug

An Air hug is a contactless hug.  The air hug can take many forms ranging from a self-hug directed towards a recipient to mimicking Classic hug where huggers get very close but do not actually touch.  Imagination...and contact, are the only limits of an air hug.
